ATI LAN Software Release Notes


These release notes provide information on the Local Area Network (LAN) driver. The release notes also provide step-by-step instructions for successfully installing the ATI LAN software drivers.

Overview

A Local Area Network (LAN) is a communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. It uses clients and servers that have a network-enabled operating system such as Windows. The "clients" are the user's workstations. The "servers" hold programs and data that are shared by the clients.


Note: The ATI LAN driver must be installed before using the network adapter included on motherboards containing the ATI IXP 200 or IXP 250.

Downloading the Integrated Software Drivers

This section provides information on downloading the INTEGRATED Software drivers for your OEM motherboard using ATI chipset products. ATI recommends that you create a central location for your ATI INTEGRATED downloads. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Right-click on any open area of your desktop. A drop down menu is displayed.

  2. Select New->Folder. A new folder is created on your desktop.
  3. Name the folder CATALYST Downloads.
  4. Navigate to the ATI software download web page, and select the software driver you require.
  5. Click Download. A File download dialog box is displayed.
  6. Click Save. The Save As dialog box is displayed.

  7. Navigate to the CATALYST Downloads folder, and click Save.

You have successfully saved the software driver to your desktop.

Installing the ATI LAN Software Drivers

This section provides information on installing the ATI LAN Software Drivers for your OEM motherboard containing ATI chipset products. To install the LAN driver, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the CATALYST Downloads folder on your desktop. Double-click on the folder to view its content.
  2. Double click the LAN driver (IGP-net-04-35-000-0b.exe). The InstallShield Wizard is displayed.

  3. Click Next. The Location to Save Files window is displayed. Accept the default location.

  4. Click Next. The files are extracted and the Integrated Network Driver Setup Window is displayed.

  5. Click Next. The License Agreement is displayed.

  6. Click Yes. The driver installation is started, and the InstallShield Wizard Complete Window is displayed.

  7. Click Finish to restart your system and complete the installation of the ATI LAN driver support.

You have successfully installed the ATI LAN software driver for your OEM motherboard containing ATI chipset products.


Note: Microsoft Windows must be configured to use the network connection. Refer to your Windows documentation for more information on setting up Windows networking.

Known Issues

This section provides information on known limitations with the ATI LAN software driver.

  • When installing the ATI LAN driver a message window is displayed providing the user with all available 3COM drivers. The correct behavior should have only the 3C920B-EMB-WNM Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller available
  • Installing a 3Com network card followed by installing the integrated NIC using the INF install results in a pop up message which states "Cannot Start this Hardware"
