ATI GART Software Driver Release Notes


These release notes provide information on the Graphics Address Relocation Table (GART) driver, and what it is responsible for. The Release Notes also provides step-by-step instructions for successfully installing the ATI GART software driver.

Overview

The Graphics Address Relocation Table (GART) is needed to allow the AGP graphics controller to work correctly. It is extremely important that the correct GART Driver is installed before operating your system. The ATI installation program will install the GART Driver that matches your system's chipset. However, should you experience any display problems after the installation of the GART Driver; ATI recommends that you contact your motherboard manufacture.


Caution: If installing drivers for the first time, the GART driver must be installed prior to the installation of the display drivers.

Downloading the Integrated Software Drivers

This section provides information on downloading the INTEGRATED Software drivers for your OEM motherboard using ATI chipset products. ATI recommends that you create a central location for your ATI INTEGRATED downloads. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Right-click on any open area of your desktop. A drop down menu is displayed.

  2. Select New->Folder. A new folder is created on your desktop.
  3. Name the folder CATALYST Downloads.
  4. Navigate to the ATI software download web page, and select the software driver you require.
  5. Click Download. A File download dialog box is displayed.
  6. Click Save. The Save As dialog box is displayed.

  7. Navigate to the CATALYST Download folder, and click Save.

You have successfully saved the software driver to your desktop.

Installing the ATI GART Software Drivers

This section provides information on installing the ATI GART Software Drivers for your OEM motherboard containing ATI chipset products. To install the GART driver, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the CATALYST Download folder on your desktop. Double-click on the folder to view its content.
  2. Double click the Integrated display driver (IGP-gart-1009-1.exe). The InstallShield Wizard is displayed.
  3. Click Next. The Location to Save Files window is displayed. Accept the default location.

  4. Click Next. The License Agreement is displayed.

  5. Click Yes to accept the agreement and continue with the installation. The select component window is displayed.

  6. Click the Express: Recommended option. The installation of the ATI GART support is started.


    Note: This process may take several minutes to complete

  7. Click Finish to restart your system and complete the installation of the ATI GART support.

You have successfully installed the ATI GART software driver for your OEM motherboard containing ATI chipset products.
