Mac OS X RADEON 8500/9000 System Hang with LightWave 3D 7.5x
This hotfix specifically addresses an issue identified with the OpenGL driver for the 8500/9000 product family with the Modeler component of LightWave 3D 7.5x. This problem may have also affected some users of Alias|Wavefront's Maya. Using the ATI software provided with Apple's Mac OS X update 10.2.5 through 10.2.8 would cause a fatal system hang while using certain commands/functions to manipulate objects within the Modeler application.

The issue has been fixed for both 10.2.5/10.2.6 and 10.2.8 streams of Mac OS X. The included installer will identify the OS version and install the appropriate driver versions.

There is no need to install this update if you do not use one of the affected ATI products. There is also no need to update to these components if you are not experiencing the problems they are intended to correct.

Hardware/Software Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Mac OS X

• Power Macintosh computer with AGP
• Mac OS X 10.2.5 or newer
• 128MB of System Memory (RAM)
• Addresses compatibility issue with LightWave 3D

This RADEON HotFix for Mac OS X currently supports (Jaguar) versions 10.2.5 up to 10.2.8 only. The file will not install on older versions, nor future versions, of Mac OS X.

Installation Notes

The included HotFix should only be applied if you are experiencing the specific issues it is intended to resolve: LightWave 3D Modeler hang/crashing.

Double-Click the installer icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

The ATI RADEON HotFix contains the following items:

ATI RADEON8500DVDDriver.bundle

ATI RADEON8500GA.plugin

ATI RADEON8500GLDriver.bundle

You must restart your computer after installation is complete.
