This release note provides information on the ATI Southbridge driver package. The ATI Southbridge driver package provides support for motherboards using ATI chipset products. The driver provides LAN, SMBus, IDE and USB software support.

ATI Southbridge Driver Package Content

The ATI Southbridge driver package contains the following software support.


Note: The Southbridge driver automatically detects the ATI chipset product installed on your OEM motherboard. The driver then installs the LAN, SMBus, Serial ATA RAID, and IDE support for your ATI chipset product if required.

Known Issues

This section provides information on known limitations with the ATI Southbridge driver package.

Some USB 1.1. HUB may not get detected

If a USB 1.1 HUB is connected to an ATI IXP product, the host controller will detect the HUB and then query the HUB for any attached devices. If there are no devices connected to the HUB the Host controller will put the HUB in a suspend state. Once the HUB is in this suspend state, the USB devices plugged in to the HUB may not be detected by the Operating System.

ATI will provide a USB filter driver that can be used with WinXP OS to workaround this issue. A permanent resolved fro this issue will be made available in an upcoming driver release.


Note: Not all USB 1.1 HUBs will have this issue, as most USB 1.1 HUB do not need long delay to be ready for operational mode from sleep mode.
